Small boy with big dreams.

The most efficient way to learn economics.

Economics is one of the subjects I’m learning as a homeschooler. Since I am homeschooled, I don’t learn economics the same way we do in school. Instead, I use a different method and till now it has proven to be very useful. So what is this method and how does it work?

In learning, there are 3 steps. Creation, Curation, and Contribution. I have been able to practice and implement the first two steps but I still haven’t attained enough knowledge to do the 3rd step.

  1. Going in-depth in these steps.
  • Creation.

Create something which implements what you just learned. For example, if you are learning how to cook omelets then make an omelet. Or if you are learning French. Write an essay in French. And so on. The main point is that you should make something that implements what you just learned.

If you are asking why is this important, then my answer to that will be: “When you implement what you learn, you also automatically plant what you learned in your brain permanently.”

  • Curation:

Collect all the knowledge possible. Small or big. Because every single fact will make a huge difference to your learning. This is the point of Curation. You collect to learn. For example: If you wish to learn photography, you see videos on tips, you ask masters for help and you analyze other’s photos.

  • Contribution:
  • Contribution is very simple and needs almost no explanation at all. You give comments on other people’s work (On the same topic which you are learning on.) This will help you find solutions for your work.

For example, let’s say someone wrote a passage on dinosaurs. You find that he wrote the extinction of dinosaurs wrong. So you tell him that it is wrong. Now when you contribute, you help him and also gain knowledge.

  1. How I am learning.
  • I learn from books.

This probably falls in the curation category as I collect information. My father bought me a book that explains each and every economics topic in simple terms. Believe it or not, each topic is covered in 1-2 pages only! Yet even if it is 1-2 pages, I still have to go deeper into it. By researching on YouTube, Investopedia, and Google. But what do I use this research for?

  • The creation part of my learning

After I learn and research, I post a video on YouTube. This is probably the most efficient way to implement creation. You get to implement what you learned, you get feedback from other people and you can do this with anything you learn.
