Josh Writes

Small boy with big dreams.

Books that made my childhood.

Books have always been a part of my childhood. They are like the foundations of a house but they are also roots. I honestly feel the same way and if books didn’t exist, then so will 70% of my knowledge.

  • How did I start reading books?

My dad started reading books to me from the day I was born. No wonder I love books that much. The first book I liked was a graphic novel. It was an Action Bible. It portrayed the bible through comics and for some reason I couldn’t stop reading that book.

“You know you have read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.”

– Paul Sweeney

  • How did I find my love for books?

I and my father were walking inside Walmart just seeing all the things we might need. Then we saw the stall that had a few books on it. It had a book by an author named Geronimo Stilton. I didn’t want it, I mean I could read it.. but I wasn’t interested. But my dad made me try it.

I forgot how I reacted after finishing the book but if I would imagine it right now, I would say I was I must have been craving for more. Because I remember asking my dad for more books like these and every time we went to Walmart or another library, I would always pick books by Geronimo Stilton.

Fun fact: The real author behind Geronimo Stilton is Elisabetta Dami.

So we have found the first book that made my childhood. Made by none other than Geronimo Stilton.

  • A gift that was a blessing in disguise.

My sister gifted me for my Birthday and she sent a book by the author Jeff Kinney. The book’s name was “The diary of a wimpy kid. ‘Hard luck’”

I equally loved this book as much as I loved Geronimo Stilton. Whenever I was bored of reading him, I read Diary of the wimpy kid. And the other way around as well.

I loved the book so much that it was my ambition to read every single book in the series. And I’m happy to say, I was successful.

  • My current interest.

I’m currently very invested in detective stories… Namely, Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes. Some of my favorite books are Study in Scarlet and Murder on the Orient Express. They cage me in fascination and It’s funny how my guess of the criminal always ends up wrong. The plot twists spice up the story and the huge revelations are the cherry on top of the cake.
