The book’s name is “The books of elsewhere” by Jacqueline West. I absolutely loved it and for some reason it reminded me of Harry Potter and Lord of the rings.
First of all here are all the characters:
Protagonist: Olive Dunwoody
Side characters: Ms and Mr Dunwoody, Miss Nivens
Guides: Harvey, Leopald & Horatio
Antagonists: Annabelle McMartin, Aldous McMartin
Why do I like this book?
It’s the different use of magic, when I say a ”witch” or a “wizard” you would most probably imagine they have a pointy top hat, having equipped some robes and holding a wand. They most probably would also have a enormous knowledge of spells.
This book’s depiction of magical humans is portrayed much differently. Aldous McMartin is a painter. A painter that can trap human beings inside his paintings. He can also make someone immortal by painting them. You can climb through these paintings with some enchanted spectacles.
Another thing I really liked was that some words were in italics, which made the whole book much nicer. The writing was another thing. The writing was fascinating that it completely put me under its spell. I was absorbed by that book.
There were also plot twists. It just made the book much spicier. For example: Somewhere in the middle of the book, Olive Dunwoody realized that her ”guides” were helping the antagonists. But contrary to what they said before, in the ending she realized that they used to work for them. They don’t work for them now.
The suspense, the plot twists and everything else I mentioned was just spectacular. So now that you know this book, why not read it?
