WHO WAS PLATO?
Plato was a Greek philosopher born in Athens during the Classical period in Ancient Greece. He founded the Platonist school of
thought and the Academy, the first institution of higher learning on the European continent.
PLATO’S VIEWS ON PROPERTY.
Plato’s argument was that property should be public so that the goverment has control over everything . The same way when our parents take our toys if we were fighting, Plato thought it would be better. His point of view is not wrong but everyone prefers Aristotle’s argument.
WHO WAS ARISTOTLE?
Aristotle was a philosopher who wrote extensively on logic, biology, astronomy, and more. To this day, he is considered one of the most influential philosophers to ever live.
ARISTOTLE’S VIEWS ON PROPERTY.
-Aristotle thought that if the property was public then people will assume that someone else will take care of it rather than taking responsibility themselves.
-People can only give when they have something to give, hence, property should be private.
-There should be equality between people and the government. People should own some property while the government owns some.
WHY PROPERTY SHOULD BE PRIVATE
So we discussed both of the philosopher’s arguments but which is right? Aristotle’s view is right. Or moreover his is fairer.
Private property’s examples: Houses, Cars, Laptops etc.
Public Property’s examples: Parks, Streets, Roads etc.
Property should be private so that there won’t be no inequality between the government and the people.
People will only take care of a property when its theirs. They might even tend to abuse public property.
And how will people give when they have nothing to give? That is why property should be private.
