Small boy with big dreams.

What if I had a million dollars?

My brother was annoying me and after I finally got rid of him, I thought to myself. “If I get a penny every time my brother annoyed me, I would have a million dollars.” Then instantly I wondered what will I do with the million dollars. These are the thoughts that ran through my mind:

What I learnt from other people:
So I have heard of many lottery winners. It’s always the same thing. They somehow win lots and lots of money. Then, instead of the money helping them, it deteriorates their life. That’s the problem with money. Either you rule money or money rules you.

A wise king once said “Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off like an eagle.” So why does their money drain faster than light? Why doesn’t the person stay rich even for a while? And finally, how can I avoid this?

The problems:
Addiction:
The last passage, I wrote about what I noticed about lottery winners. Gambling itself is a problem and that is mainly how people win lotteries. If they get a million dollars from it, they are just motivated to gamble more. Therefore, their money goes down the drain. Gambling is just one form of addiction. There are more, for example:

Alcohol:
Depression haunts humans. Many of us humans have two options here.

One: Find the things that give joy to you and do it more often, spend time with your family and think positive.
Two: Drink, Forget, Repeat.

Alcohol is an easy escape route from your problems. Well not escape. Rather, a way to hide. A way to forget. rather than facing the problem head on, they decide to hide.
Drugs:
Although the real reason people take drugs is unknown to me, I suspect it’s similar to Alcohol. But I do know what it causes to our minds. You see, drugs release lots of dopamine when taken. When large amounts of dopamine is taken. Our mind automatically repeats unhealthy behaviors`. Such as taking drugs. This means that it is very hard to quit drugs because you not only get addicted to it physically but mentally as well.
Food:
About 1 / 3 of the adults are fat and a research in 2016 concluded that 18% of the girls and 19% of the boys were fat. Which means that many of the people are addicted to food.

How I will not waste my money:
The lottery winners immediately spend the money, which means they’re left with nothing at the end. So that is why the people winners always tend to be in a worse state than when they were before winning the lottery. So my strategy would be to not spend and save up.

How I am planning to spend my money:
If I ever get 1 million dollars today, I would save up 95% of it. As a kid, I have no use for money, my father and mother do stuff for me. So 5% would just be whatever I want or need. 50% would go into stocks and 45% would be put into the bank.
Simple as that. Actually maybe not that simple. With lots of money on your hands, you also have power. So Its not really that “simple”.

How would you spend a million dollars? Would you allow money to rule over you or you rule money?
